Black Marquina

Absolute elegance and contemporary contrast.

The quintessential black marble.

One of the world’s most iconic and sophisticated marbles is Black Marquina Marble.

This marble, native to the Marquina region (País Vasco, Spain), stands out for its deep black background, intersected by irregular white veins that give it a powerful, minimalist, and highly decorative aesthetic.

This option is common in modern design projects, exclusive homes, luxury hotels, and commercial spaces seeking an elegant, understated, and timeless finish.

TYPES of Black Marquina

An intense black with fine, evenly distributed veins defines Extra Black Marquina Marble.

Moderate veining with a homogeneous black background is a characteristic of Select Black Marquina Marble, widely used in contemporary spaces.

On the other hand, Commercial Black Marquina Marble is defined as a marble with more abundant or irregular white veins, ideal for expressive surfaces.

Intense Veined Black Marquina Marble is an ideal choice for murals, fireplaces, or pieces with a high visual impact.

Available finishes for Black Marquina Marble.

Regardless of the typology, different finishes can be found. At COAVANTIA Stone, we offer the following:

Discover how our finishes look

Polished Black Marquina Marble has a mirror-like shine that intensifies the black and highlights its white veins.

Honed Black Marquina Marble results in a very elegant and modern matte finish, perfect for minimalist interiors.

An Aged finish offers a lightly distressed surface with a traditional or industrial character.

Brushed or Sandblasted highlights the sophisticated, satiny texture of Marquina Black Marble.

Finally, Bush-hammered is that rough, non-slip finish perfect for outdoors and wet areas.

Now you can purchase Black Marquina marble from our Online Store, simple and secure.

Applications & Uses

In interiors, it is widely used in vertical cladding and contemporary design flooring, sink countertops, bathrooms, vanities, and exclusive furniture, in fireplaces, staircases, baseboards, columns, and decorative murals, and in commercial spaces, boutique hotels, and luxury restaurants.

On the other hand, outdoors it is often used for modern facades or in combination with neutral materials, in designer gardens, sculptures or fountains, and in entrances, patios and wet areas (with non-slip finishes).

More information

Blocks

This natural stone is extracted from the quarry in blocks. There’s not a standard size, they usually measure between 2’4 and 3 meters wide, 1’4 to 2 meters long and 1’5 meters deep, and they are always referred to in cubic meters, therefore, and based on the dimensions mentioned, their volume can vary between 4.5 and 7 cubic meters. Larger sizes are not extracted because they would be too heavy for proper transport in a container.

Slabs

Slabs are the result of introducing Black Marquina blocks in the factory. We can obtein slabs with the same height and length, with any desired thickness. After, any desired finish can be applied. Standard slabs are generally around 4 m².

Tiles

Our Black Marquina tiles are available in a variety of standard sizes and thicknesses, ideal for flooring and wall cladding. The tiles are highly versatile and can be used for residential, commercial, and large-scale projects. In Coavantia Stone we reinforce the tiles with a mesh backing to ensure durability, easier handling, and safe installation.

For shipping, tiles are packed in pallets or cardboard boxes placed inside export crates to guarantee they arrive in perfect condition.

All pieces can be produced according to the dimensions requested, ensuring a perfect fit for any project.
